Degree honour for comedian Lee Mack
Jul 07 2012
Lee Mack is to be awarded an honorary doctorate by his former university.
The comedian, who is also known for his BBC show Not Going Out and appearing on Would I Lie To You?, will receive a Doctor of Humanities degree from Brunel in a ceremony later this month.
It comes 16 years after he graduated from the institution with a degree in drama with film and TV studies.
Lee's time at Brunel also marked the start of his stand-up career - he had his first open mike slot in 1994 while studying at the west London university, a spokeswoman said.
"Lee was always seemingly destined for a career in the entertainment business," she said.
"He had his first open mike slot while he was a student. We're delighted to be awarding him the honorary degree of Doctor of Humanities in recognition of his outstanding services to the arts."
The ceremony will take place on Tuesday July 26.
