Girl power reigns at Games stadium
Aug 13 2012
The Spice Girls made sure that "girl power" reigned over the Olympic Stadium as the quintet reformed for a special Closing Ceremony performance.
Geri Halliwell, Emma Bunton, Victoria Beckham, Mel Chisholm and Mel Brown emerged out of five black cabs, fashioned to the style of each singer, for their dramatic entrance.
One cab was baby pink, one had sporty stripes, another had posh diamante, the next was adorned as the union flag - reminiscent of Geri's famous Brit awards attire - and the final cab was covered in animal print.
The band performed their debut single Wannabe before they paraded around the arena on top of the moving cabs while singing Spice Up Your Life.
Other stars also took full advantage of the "transport themed" final concert.
Jessie J, Tinie Tempah and Taio Cruz whizzed around in luxury convertibles while performing their hits, Russell Brand provided a surprising rendition of I Am The Walrus from a psychedelic bus and the Pet Shop Boys performed on the back of bikes, wearing their own take on cycling helmets.
