In February, US treasure hunting firm Sub Sea Research announced they'd found the wreck of the SS Port Nicholson in 700 feet of water off Cape Cod on America's east coast. The ship was torpedoed by a German submarine while carrying £2 billion of platinum, gold and industrial diamonds from Russia to the US.The potential haul is one of the biggest in treasure hunting history, but Sub Sea Research can't count its chickens yet. A lengthy legal process to decide who actually owns the precious metals on board is likely to ensue.
