Oysters at The White Horse, Brancaster
Oysters weren't always considered a rich person's dish - British porters on early shifts in markets across the UK used to wrap up their day in the early morning with a classic pairing of oysters and stout. So in a sense, they're the original pub snack. They're a little more expensive these days, but buying them singly rather than by the half or whole dozen keeps costs down. The White Horse in Brancaster Staithe, north Norfolk, has won a shell-load of awards over the years. With fantastic sea views and access to some of the area's best oysters, along with their own micro-brewery, try a pint of porter or stout with a natural oyster accompanied by a lemon wedge and shallots in vinegar.
