Get the look: Lana Del Rey’s Barbarella beehive

Lana Del Rey(H&M)
We show you how to create the singer’s retro-tastic hair.
When the images of Lana Del Rey for the new H&M campaign landed in our inbox, there was a collective gasp from the girls in the office at how well she is working her sumptuous retro look, thanks to a slick of black eyeliner, a nude pout and, of course, that Barbarella beehive. Yep, the glam look Lana's showcasing is nothing short of 50s perfection.
So what are we mere mortals supposed to do when faced with such an image? Try to recreate the look, that's what!
We can't conjure up LDR's pillowy lips or her 'Video Games' stare but we can all try to recreate that amazing bouffant hair at home. Charlie Mann, Director of Electric Hairdressing Salon London shows you how:
"The soft wave is feminine, sexy and versatile and can bridge many different clothing styles. Lana gets the balance right between polished definition and natural elegance," says Charlie.
STEP 1: Prepare the hair by cleansing it thoroughly and smooth the cuticles with dry oil, L'Oréal Professionnel's Mythic Oil (£13.70) is perfect for this.
STEP 2: Turn you head upside down and blow-dry gently pulling the roots to get volume and the feeling of air into the hair.
STEP 3: Smooth the hair out using a medium head hugger to achieve a soft wave and definition to the ends of the hair. You could also use large heated rollers to give the hair a full body wave.
STEP 4: Take a triangle section with the widest point at the forehead and the narrow at the crown, elevate and back comb to the desired head and use a soft brush to smooth into shape and position.
TIP: Use a sprinkling of Shu Uemura's Volume Maker (£31) or L'Oréal Professionnel's Super Dust (£11.50) to get substantial volume that will hold.
