Olympic rehearsal goers urged to ‘save the surprise’
Attendees at the dress rehearsal of the Olympic opening ceremony were urged by creative director Danny Boyle to ‘save the surprise’ until the actual performance takes place on Friday.
Games organisers asked thousands of people who were invited to the rehearsal to refrain from circulating any revealing pictures or videos taken inside the Olympic Stadium on Facebook or Twitter.
According to reports, the hashtag ‘#savethesurprise’ was emblazoned on giant screens inside the Olympic Stadium – it predictably then trended globally on Twitter.
Although a glance at Twitter suggests most rehearsal-goers respected Boyle’s request to keep schtum on what they had witnessed, it’s fair to say that attendees came away impressed from the run-through.
