THAT secret Stone Roses gig
It was quite possibly the hottest ticket on the planet last night – returning Brit music heroes The Stone Roses played a tiny secret gig at East London venue The Village Underground.
Announced earlier in the day, the gig was free with fans who had attended the band’s Heaton Park show earlier this summer invited to apply for tickets.
Given the stellar guest list, it’s debatable how many ordinary punters actually got in as the band played for a host of Olympic medal winners and rock royalty.
In attendance were gold medal winners Jessica Ennis and Bradley Wiggins (the new King and Queen of England according to Roses frontman Ian Brown), rower Pete Reed, Led Zeppelin’s Jimmy Page and Primal Scream’s Bobby Gillespie, Paul Weller and Boy George.
Details are thin on the ground but tweets from the venue reveal a bit of flavor…
@john_simm ‘I feel like the Joker... Cant stop smiling. Just saw the STONEROSES in a tiny little club. Met Jessica Ennis and held a GOLD MEDAL.’
And with a tweet guaranteed to get the Glastonbury rumour mill rolling, Emily Eavis had this to say…
@emilyeavis ‘The StoneRoses were incredible tonight. What a gig!’
