Jonny Brownlee hugs brother Alistair (PA)Now, we haven't confirmed it but according to that oracle we like to call Twitter the two medals won by Alistair and Jonny Brownlee out-medals actual countries including Norway, Argentina and Spain.

The Telegraph's Matt Holehouse started it.

@MattHolehouse tweets: Brownlee family now 36th on medal table, joint with Lithuania, ahead of Spain, Norway and Argentina

Support and joy in the brothers' efforts bounced across Twitter.

Former first minister of Scotland Jack McConnell @LordMcConnell: Ali #Brownlee ran the 10k to finish #triathlon (after 1500m swim and 43k cycle) just one and half mins slower than Mo Farah. Stunning

And of course, they're from Yorkshire.

@BBCLookNorth: Olympic medals table latest- with 4 golds, 2 silvers and 3 bronzes if #Yorkshire were a country we'd now be 10th in the table.
