Louie Spence axed as Jason Gardiner returns to Dancing On Ice
It’s all change yet again at Dancing On Ice; camp star Louie Spence has been axed from the panel while bitchy judge Jason Gardiner has been brought back.
Louie critiqued the celebs’ efforts for the January 2012 series. However, many felt the show missed the cruel cattiness that often characterised Jason’s judging.
The acerbic Australian has been responsible for hundreds of viewer complaints to media watchdog Ofcom over the years; he said Jeff Brazier appeared to be "missing a couple of chromosomes" and slated a performance by Sharron Davies as akin to "faecal matter that won't flush".
Dancing On Ice ratings have dropped in recent years and some may interpret dropping Spence for Gardiner as ITV’s effort to spark renewed interest in the series.
Louie confirmed the decision by taking to Twitter and informing his fans of the change: ‘@louiespence - To all asking no I won't be judging @Dancingonice this year Jason is back ...’
Reaction to the news ranged from delight at the prospect of Jason’s return to sadness.
@Mimie_13 tweeted: ‘Can't wait to watch @officialJasonG on @dancingonice he will spice up the ice YES Jason is back just what DOI needs!’
@Babe2115 wrote: ‘@louiespence aw sad your not doing the show Louie :( thought you spiced it up! Xxx’
Jason Gardiner will join Robin Cousins as well as a new female judge (replacing Katarina Witt who has also left) when Dancing On Ice returns in January 2013.
