Italy: Sicily's Greek Temples
The Greek colonists who began arriving in the southernmost coastal areas of the Italian peninsula and the island of Sicily in 8th century BC brought their politics and culture with them. These days a Greek presence remains in the amazingly well preserved Teatro Greco on the southeast of the island, which stages classic plays in the summer. Other landmarks are preserved in the nearby Parco Archeologico.
